In the August of 2010, a Nerdfighter by the name of Esther Earl passed away. I didn't get to know her personally, but, by her book This Star Won't Go Out, I've learned a lot about her and somehow feel like I did know her. Before her passing, she was given the opportunity to make her birthday a holiday within the Nerdfighter community (which included picking a theme). The theme she chose was love of friends and family and the general platonic love. This holiday is known as Esther Day. To celebrate, the Metro Atlanta Harry Potter Alliance is gathering arts and crafts supplies to be donated to a local Children's Hospital. We are spending July spreading the word, and donating will begin in August. So, if you want to donate, contact me through the email attached to this blog and contact me.
